Project Status: Complete
The crossroads between the N51, the Townley Hall Road and the Obelisk Bridge Road was identified as a High Collision Location on the N51 by Transport Infrastructure Ireland through the GE-STY-01036 – Network Safety Analysis Procedures. Louth County Council determined that measures should be implemented to improve the historically poor collision rate at the junction, and proposed the following design option:
- Amend the junction layout to provide a partial stagger between the local roads at the junction
As part of the amendments it was necessary to ensure that there was no negative impact on the Brú na Bóinne World Heritage Site, the buffer for which is adjacent to the site, and no negative impact on the Townley Hall Architectural Conservation Area within which the site is located.
As part of our appointment PMCE prepared: –
- an updated Feasibility and Options Report
- a Preliminary Design
- a Detailed Design
- Contract/Tender Documentation
